![]() Trump portraitFine liner on paper This reflective portrait details a representation of famous politician Donald Trump. The portrait itself was done when Donald was looking into the faces of the media during a speech. At a time of distress, many people often criticized Donald for his widely performed actions within the government. Utilizing a fine liner black pen, I attempted to emphasize Donald’s facial features when observed closely by the media. Looking directly out toward the pr | ![]() Surrealism Embroidery |

It was based on the trip to Vietnam that I took to Summer, and the shot captures the beauty and intricacy that went into creating one of these historic structures. | ![]() The Mountain in the LakeThis drawing was made out of soft pastel And color pencils, with a few graphite accents. This piece represents a contrast with the stillness of the mountain with the movement in the lake and represents different facets of nature. |

![]() Playing BadmintonPrismacolor on paper This piece was created based off of a picture of my brother when my family went to Maine. This was the first time I ever created such a large detailed piece with prismacolors. When I first began, I was extremely nervous. However, as I continued to work on the piece, I found it becoming much easier. Of everything, I struggled the most with the racket and trees in the background. I found it difficult to create the right mix of colors for both the background and racket. | ![]() Portrait StudiesGraphite on paper | ![]() Still Life StudyAcrylic paint on paper |

![]() Portrait of Diana RossAcrylic, watercolor, and fabric flowers on paper I was inspired by Amy Sherald’s style of portraiture, which incorporates bright solid color backgrounds and an emphasis on the subject’s clothing. I thought that the best way to make the clothes pop was to add three-dimensional elements to an overall two-dimensional medium. Flowers were also included in the hair to balance out the work so that it was not bottom heavy. I used watercolor for the skin to give the subject an airy, ethereal | ![]() Surrealism Embroidery |

![]() Urban JungleAcrylic paint on paper Inspired by Van Gogh’s painting, “Cafe Terrace,” this painting was done to imitate the brushstrokes and some of the coloring choices found in Van Gogh’s piece. As a visual representation of the contrast between rural and urban settings, the flowers found in the street of a big city have a strong contradiction. | ![]() Chalk DrawingChalk on concrete | ![]() Beach MorningChalk on concrete |

Jessie stayed with the family for a few months and brought his lively energy into the family. The artist tried to portray the dog’s energy by adding him on to a bike, which is something that dogs rarely do. |

![]() TissuesGraphite on paper When originally coming up with what I’d want this piece to be based off, I had only one thought in mind: what in the world is happening… to our world? With everything going on regarding the coronavirus outbreak, I cannot imagine the world being even remotely the same after all of this is over. What will happen to our doctors? Will we be more sanitary than ever? As of now, we are living through history that will surely be documented and recorded. |

![]() Mad Hatter and the Cheshire CatAcrylic on mix media paper This artwork is inspired by Del Kathryn Barton’s painting, "A is for…(beauty before beauty)" and the 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie. The blue eyes in Barton’s piece reminded me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice and Wonderland, however my favorite character was the Mad Hatter. So I decided to combine the two while making sure to use vibrant colors because the Mad Hatter’s personality was very colorful. | ![]() RyuMagazine cut outs and acrylic on paper This was a portrait of Ryu from the game Street Fighter. I wanted to use as many different pictures I could while still maintaining the image. I mostly wanted to feel the satisfaction of something coming together piece by piece. | ![]() RedAcrylic on paper This was a monochromatic still life painting of 3 vases. When I had first started the piece I was heavily blending in the colors, but as I progressed with the painting I realized that I didn’t have to make it look so realistic. This painting made me realize lots of details aren’t always the best and it is ok to have things be a little more abstract. |

![]() Flower Dance in the NightAcrylic on canvas I was inspired by the artist Leonid Afremov, particularly his technique using palette knives and thick strokes. Some challenges I encountered were choosing colors to show value, using a palette knife, and depicting the reflections. This painting evokes a sense of pleasure and joy, helping the audience to recall personal memories and emotions and invites everyone to the world of beauty consistently surrounding us through a simple yet beautiful scene we all are familiar with. | ![]() Time | ![]() Surrealism Embroidery |

![]() Baby BirdsGraphite Pencil Referencing a photo of baby pigeons taken by Damien Rivera, this artwork uses a variety of graphite pencils and value techniques to achieve a realistic style. Including hatching, stippling, scribbling, and more, the drawing demonstrates a wide range of shading skills in an attempt to capture the details in the soft feathers of the birds. | ![]() Balloon DogAcrylic Paint Inspired by artist Jeff Koons’s pop culture pieces, this painting shows the shine and shadows created by one of his metallic balloon dog sculptures. Using only acrylic paint, the artwork attempts to showcase the mirror-finish of the whimsical sculpture by mimicking the colors of the reflections upon its curved surfaces. |

![]() Simple moments (Portrait of Nia Melonson)Charcoal on paper This is a portrait of my sister Nia Melonson. It was made to show the simple moments in life and how they should be appreciated. Her hand is in the shape of half a heart in front of her face which is something we do to end our calls and show that even though we are far apart she is still close at heart. I chose to use charcoal as my medium because the contrast allowed for a striking image to appear. As well as this I believe keeping it monochromatic emphasizes the simplicity. | ![]() Surrealism Embroidery |

![]() Lone Ranger (Still Life)Acrylic on paper This painting is a self-reflective painting. The orange symbolizes Murari’s life through childhood. He depicts this independence in the artwork title. Murari believes this painting will inspire people to fight for themselves and for their own battles. Although the orange is alone, it is seemingly perfect and flawless, showing that one does not need help to achieve success. Murari hopes that people learn hardwork and dedication can lead to a desired life. |

![]() AvocadosAcrylic paint on paper I chose to paint avocados because they are something I’m severely allergic to. Guacamole used to be a dip my family and I made together, so the development of my allergy has restricted my family from making it at all. Since becoming allergic to avocados, I see them largely in a negative light, which is reflected in the duller colors and grey background of my piece. I was challenged largely by the blending of colors where the tones are unified but not entirely blended. |

![]() PortraitThis artwork is inspired by Surrealism Abstraction. I had never really been amazing at drawing people, let alone painting one, so I decided to use my strengths rather than my weaknesses in this unit. I loved color mixing and used multiple colors to paint a woman. The woman was the subject of a similar artist’s portrait, Ari Alfian. I really enjoyed painting this. | ![]() Monochromatic Still LifeI hadn’t had much practice painting with darker colors, so I decided to use a red to paint three random objects. It was quite fun using red, as the tone I used made certain parts look purple, and others pink. The varying tones in a red painting were fun to experiment with, having just done a monochromatic in green. I have to say that there is more variety in a red painting and you can utilize multiple colors to produce a painting that looks mainly red. | ![]() CollageIn this piece I was trying to communicate societal standards for women. The various pinks were representative of makeup and the idea of femininity. The various skin tones on the woman’s arm represented the fact that all women are bound to these constraints, not just some. |

![]() 3D PrinterVariety of graphite pencils on paper The piece was created as the artist noticed his 3-D printer casted a light over the objects it created, and in the dark the effect looked like it could be used to express value in interesting and different ways. Value is added to the piece through the use of hatching. This also emphasizes textures throughout the piece. |
